AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Navi GPU, 16-Core Ryzen 9 3950X CPU Announced
AMD is continuing to up the ante in terms of CPU specifications, and hopes are high for its first major new GPUs in several years.
AMD has just made its Radeon RX 5700 series graphics processors official, launching the Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX 5700 GPUs These two models are the first consumer GPUs based on the new Navi architecture, which has been in the works for several years now In addition, AMD has announced a previously rumoured 16-core consumer desktop CPU, the Ryzen 9 3950X, and also two new Ryzen 3000-series APUs with integrated graphics capabilities AMD President and CEO Dr Lisa Su, joined by multiple senior company executives, announced the new GPUs and CPUs at AMDs Next Horizon Gaming event at the E3 2019 gaming industry expo in Los Angeles
The Radeon RX 5700 GPU series uses a brand new design that AMD is calling RDNA, or Radeon DNA, built on the Navi architecture platform The company promises a brand new compute unit building block, improved cache hierarchy, and more efficient graphics pipeline, for 125x better better performance per clock and 15x better performance per Watt than current Radeon RX500-series products
Starting with the Radeon RX 5700 XT, the GPU has 40 RDNA compute units with 2,560 stream processors, for up to 975 Teraflops of bandwith It will run at a 1605MHz base clock with a 1755MHz ‘game clock speed and up to 1905MHz turbo speed Graphics cards based on this GPU will have 8GB of GDDR6 RAM on a 256-bit bus for 448GBps of memory bandwidth Board power is rated at 225W
AMDs reference design for graphics cards based on the Radeon RX 5700 XT features a blower-style fan, an acoustically tuned aluminium alloy shroud, vapour chamber cooler, and overclocker-friendly 7-phase power design It needs 8-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power inputs
The Radeon RX 5700 will feature 36 compute units with 2,304 stream processors Its base, game clock and turbo speeds are 1465MHz, 1625MHz and 1725MHz respectively It will also feature 8GB of GDDR6 RAM on a 256-bit bus, and board power is a more modest 180W
Both models will feature HDMI 20b and DisplayPort 14 HDR video outputs with Display Stream Compression, capable of driving 4K at 240Hz, 4K HDR at 120Hz, or 8K HDR at 60Hz with a single cable The Radeon Media Engine supports H264, H265 and VP9 video encoding for efficient streaming to Twitch or YouTube while gaming
The Radeon RX 5700 series GPUs will be positioned below the existing Radeon VII but above the Radeon RX 500 series and Radeon Vega series The Radeon RX 5700XT will be priced at $449 approximately Rs 31,175 before taxes and the Radeon RX 5700 will cost $379 approximately Rs 26,315 before taxes They will go on sale on July 7, 2019 Additionally, a gold-accented 50th Anniversary Edition version of the Radeon RX 5700 XT with slightly higher clock speeds will be sold exclusively on AMDcom for $499 approximately Rs 34,645 Buyers will get a three month Xbox Game Pass subscription for access to multiple games including the upcoming Gears 5
New FidelityFX, Radeon Image Sharpening, and Radeon Anti-Lag tools have also been announced, and promise to make games look better with minimal impact on performance Image Sharpening uses contrast-adaptive sharpening with optional upscaling and is supported by thousands of old and new games, according to AMD
The Ryzen 3000 series will also include the Ryzen 3 3200G and Ryzen 5 3400G APUs, based on the previous Zen+ architecture, with integrated Radeon Vega graphics The Ryzen 3 3200G features four cores without multi-threading, a Vega 8 GPU, base and boost speeds of 36GHz and 4GHz respectively, and a 65W TDP The Ryzen 5 3400G also has four cores but does support multi-threading It features Vega 11 graphics and runs at between 37GHz and 42GHz with the same 65W TDP
